Parents:
We believe that the partnership between parents and teachers is vital for the children’s learning, especially when learning a language in a home environment. Parents are the child’s first and lifelong learning partners.
The parents of TCCC School provide significant contributions to the development of school. They help set up classes, prepare lunches for children and raise funds for school improvement.
In order to support parents’ efforts to advance their children’s learning and foster healthy behaviours, we run parent’s forums and meetings in TCCC, and offer resources on a timely basis.
Kha-ta:
Kha-ta in Tibetan means advice. This is a parent’s forum to engage in and explore a variety of subjects pertaining to children’s education, behaviour and upbringing. We hold Khata sessions once in two months and discuss topics such as the following:
- Importance of the Tibetan language for preserving Tibetan identity.
- Parenting children in the twenty first Century.
- Social and emotional learning for children.
- Children’s reading skills.
- Children’s behaviour management skills.
- Physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Parents contribute to children’s learning by being supportive and setting firm and friendly limits with their children. Their responsibilities include:
- Be supportive and encouraging.
- Provide appropriate involvement in the homework activity.
- Set regular homework routines with flexibility.
- Provide a note of explanation when home work is incomplete.
- Ensure your child is reading, or is read to, on daily basis at home.
- Please submit fees and forms on time.
- Drop and pick up child on time as TCCC is not a daycare centre.
- Inform TCCC by telephone 416-410-5606 for student’s absence.
- Pick up child/ward for lunch or provide lunch at TCCC as TCCC will not be responsible for any situation or incident during the lunch period.
- Inform TCCC in writing if their child will be absent for an extended period.
- Provide a written notice should your child decide to quit the program. Without formal notification of withdrawal, a student’s status will continue to be considered active and program fees will continue to accumulate.
